This year’s poppy collection for the Royal British Legion in Brigg amounted to a sum total just short of a fantastic £22,000.
The figure includes that for the neighbouring villages and the final figure for the Poppy Run totalled in the region of £6,000.
This is the final year as co-ordinator of the whole Brigg area project for long serving Maureen Glossop, who announced her decision to retire before this year’s collection commenced.
She took over the role in 2000.
Speaking to The Mail, Mrs Glossop thanked everyone for their support in raising such a splendid amount.
Before the start of the Poppy Run, which launched this year’s effort, Mrs Glossop was presented with a bunch of flowers and thanked for her tremendous contribution by British Legion officials.
The new co-ordinator is Karen Applin.
