More than 100 people turned out for a family fun day in Newtoft where plans were unveiled for a new £793,000 state-of-the-art community hall.
The fun day, on Saturday, was hailed a big success by Toft Newton Village Hall Association chairman Don Pavia.
He said people travelled to the event from around the area - and were keen to find out more about the plans.
Don said: “There was a range of people coming to look and asking questions - business owners, elderly people and a lot of young people.
“They were very interested - they were asking how it was going, everyone is really excited about it.
“They were really interested in the activities we’ll be able to carry out in the new building. It’ll open up a whole range of things we’ve not been able to do.”
Toft Newton Village Hall Association managed to secure the Big Lottery Fund’s largest ever grant given to a Lincolnshire community - and now plans are in place for a new community hall to replace the existing social club often referred to as a ‘shed’.
Don said the fun day had ‘something for everyone’ and that a raffle raised £300 to help fund furniture for the new building.
He said: “It was really well attended and as successful as I hoped.”
