More than 60 members of Keelby Twinning Association set sail for France to take part in the annual exchange visit with Maisdon-sur-Sèvre.
The two twinning associations celebrated their silver anniversary in style with a long weekend of parties, soirees, and a special trip to the popular historical theme park, Puy du Fou.
“The weekend was a huge success, and a fitting way to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Keelby-Maisdon twinning partnership,” said Keelby Twinning committee member James Silcocks.
Following a day of relaxation in the company of their host families, twinning members enjoyed a large party alongside their French friends on Friday evening, where the two twinning committees exchanged gifts and thanked one another, pledging to continue their successful partnership for many years to come.
The Saturday day trip to the theme park, Puy du Fou, was enjoyed by all members.
The park, which is one of the most popular in France, boasts more than 1.5 million visitors each year and showed off fantastic displays including a dramatic reenactment of a Viking invasion, a spectacular birds of prey display, and a huge Roman amphitheatre featuring chariot racing and gladiatorial combat - featuring real lions and tigers.
“We would like to thank Maisdon’s twinning chairman, Christian Branger, and his fellow committee members for putting on such a great weekend that we will all remember for years to come,” added Mr Silcocks.
“It will certainly be a hard act for us to follow when we welcome our French guests over to Keelby next summer.”
In the meantime, Keelby Twinning Association is looking ahead to upcoming local events this summer including the annual barbecue, the bowling and games night, Motown night and Safari Supper.
