When one of Market Rasen’s shops was painted yellow it was the talk of the town - now your Rasen Mail can reveal the thinking behind it.
Peter Rhodes Electrical made the dramatic decision as part of their outstanding window entry into a national competition run by a major refrigeration company.
“Last year, the competition was won by someone using a Fiat 126 in their window,” said manager Roger Clark.
“To be in with a chance this year, we needed to do something to make us stand out - and I thought nobody else will think of painting their shop to match the Zanussi branding.”
So that is what they did - with the help of Ken Greenwood of Rasen Hardware, who mixed the paint specially for Peter Rhodes, and the use of a yellow Ducati bike from Brian and Beryl Fox.
And the move paid off, with the shop taking top prize - 20 percent off Zanussi products and a visit from celebrity chef Gino D’Acampo.
“We are delighted to have won; this is a big thing for us, but really we did it for the women of Market Rasen,” added Mr Clark.
Gino will be appearing during the shop’s annual extravaganza in November and details are at www.peterrhodes.co.uk
