Market Rasen and District Flower Club members are celebrating following their success at this year’s Lincolnshire Show.
The club was awarded the silver challenge trophy for the most club points thanks to the fact every member who entered received a placing in their individual class.
And topping them all was Rita Goulsbra, who took first place in the novice class.
“I got the shock of my life when I found out I had won,” said Rita.
“It was the first time I had entered anything at the show and I would like to thank Gill and Richard Scuffham of Forget me Not florists in the town for providing such beautiful flowers to work with.”
The novice class was titled kitchenalia and Rita used a set of old fashioned scales as the main accessory in her display.
“Of course now I can’t enter this class anymore, so things will become harder.”
Back in 2006, Market Rasen shared the cup with the Woodhall Spa Club, but this is the first time they have won it outright.
The individual results were: class one, cco-innovations, second place for Di Smith and Jo Wilson; class two, urban oasis, third place for Sandra Rossington and Cecile Povey; class three, floral chandelier, second place for Sarah Green; class four, sitting pretty, third place for Nikki East, a previous novice class winner; class five, grand entrance, highly commended for Gina Waite; class four, kitchenalia, first place for Rita Goulsbra, fourth place for Janice Dennis and a commended for Alison Cockburn.
“It was a great team effort,” said Cecile Povey.
The club meets in Market Rasen’s Festival Hall on the third Monday of the month at 7.30pm.
