Dignitaries from across Lincolnshire gathered at St Thomas’ Church in Market Rasen on Sunday as the town’s mayor John Matthews held a Civic Service. Once an annual event in Market Rasen Town Council’s calendar, a civic ceremony has not been held in the town for some years.
But Mayor Matthews sought to reintroduce the tradition, inviting Mayors from across the county and Chairman of Lincolnshire County Council Bill Aron.
The service was led by St Thomas’ Reverend Stephen Johnson, but also featured prayers from Paul Hiley of New Life Church, Reverend Anne Coates of the Methodist Church and Anne Ward of the Salvation Army.
The ceremony was followed by a reception at The Festival Hall.
