A commemoration service was held at midday today (Tuesday) to reflect and remember those who paid the ultimate sacrifice.
RAF Coningsby the held a Battle of Britain Commemoration service outside the RAF BBMF hangar.
It was led by the RAF Coningsby Padres, based at the Station Church, the Church of the Holy Spirit.
The Rev (Wg Cdr) Paul Mellor said”:“Today was the turning point in the battle which ultimately changed the course of the Second World War and our history. It is right that we support it not only by sending the aircraft from the BBMF but as a part of our life today.”
His daughter Charlotte has just released a record entitled If you Hadn’t Done What You Did and she performed this after a reading by her father of The Few speech.
She said: “I feel very honoured to be able to commemorate this event at the home of the BBMF and with those who defend us even today. IF they hadn’t done what they did where would we be now?”
