Safety concerns over funfair

CONCERNS about the safety of the funfair that was recently held in Rasen Market Place were voiced at the town council meeting last week.

Councillors heard that the fair was precariously balanced on the square’s cobblestones, which may have been damaged by the rides.

Coun Jane Ladley said: “A light bulb flew off and narrowly missed my head.”

The fair has already approached the town authority to lease the Market Place again, but members resolved to talk to its owners about the health and safety concerns before any further agreements was entered into.

Hazel Barnard also questioned town councillors as to why there had been no agendas for meetings put on the council’s website since June. And no minutes for some committees since last year.

Coun Steve Bunney said: “This is obviously wrong and we need to do everything we can to improve communication between the council and the public.”

Calls were also made for bus timetables to be made available from the bus stop outside the banks in King Street.
