Councillor Steve Millson is the new mayor of Caistor.
Caistor town councillors voted for Coun Millson to take on the role at their monthly meeting last Thursday.
Coun Millson has taken over from Coun John Burns-Salmond who announced he was standing down at the end of last month - after three-and-a-half years at the helm.
Speaking at the meeting, Coun Millson said: “Through John’s excellent leadership and chairmanship skills, we now have a strong, stable and experienced council and a full time first class clerk.”
He added: “I’m sure I speak on behalf of all today’s councillors when I say how privileged we have been to have been lead by such a man and how much we appreciate everything he has done for the council and more importantly for Caistor.I’m also pretty certain that as Caistor residents, whether you are for or against this council you cannot fail to respect and admire John Burns-Salmond.”
Coun Millson said Coun Burns-Salmond had gained the respect of the council and that he had an “open and honest” style. He pointed out that in the time Coun Burns-Salmond was mayor, there was only one resignation from a councillor.
