Tired flower baskets in Brigg are going to be brought back to life for the winter, following a new initiative by Brigg Business Partnership and Brigg Town Council.
The partnership contacted the council to thank staff for the excellent displays through the summer, while also requesting some funding for the winter season.
“I have noticed that many of the baskets in the town centre look to be in a poor state,” said Coun Mike Campion. “People tend to put their litter in them now.”
Giving details of the approach, deputy clerk Alison Hannath thought it was an excellent initiative by the partnership.
“I feel a new initiative to brighten up the town centre through the winter would cost the council very little extra money,” she said.
Brigg town councillor Rob Waltham was also impressed with the initiative.
“I’d back it,” he said. “It will help the town to look smart in the winter as well.”
Town councillors backed the idea unanimously at a recent meeting.
Now the town clerk will look at the practicalities and the exact costings of the initiative.
