The Stage 2 section of the Ancholme Valley Way, between Castlethorpe Bridge and Broughton Bridge, is now open and North Lincolnshire Council has had reports of thousands of walkers and cyclists already using it.
The path and cycle track now extends all the way from the County Bridge in Brigg Town Centre to Broughton Bridge.
Earlier this year, the first stage was opened following an initiative from North Lincolnshire Councillor Rob Waltham and the Ancholme River Trust group which he chairs.
The route though is far from complete. There are plans at North Lincolnshire Council for it to eventually extend all the way through to the Humber bank at South Ferriby.
In addition, some heritage information boards are to be put in place on the path, hopefully before next summer.
