Caistor mayor John Burns-Salmond has announced he is standing down from his role.
Coun Burns-Salmond - who has been mayor and chairman for four terms of office - made the announcement at Caistor’s annual town meeting at the town hall on Thursday.
Speaking to residents at the meeting, Coun Burns-Salmond said: “The role has been a challenging and rewarding one.
“It has been a huge honour to represent Caistor at numerous civic events all over the county of Lincolnshire and it has given me immense pride in supporting many of Caistor’s local organisations.
“None of this would have been possible without the unconditional support of my wife Cherry, my fellow councillors and our clerk Mrs Helen Pitman.
“Her experience, dedication and most importantly resolve has helped galvanise the special team of councillors that you have representing you today.
“I will of course remain on the council and will continue to support our new chairman and mayor.”
Caistor’s new mayor will be chosen by councillors at the council’s next monthly meeting.
This will take place at Caistor Town Hall on Thursday, May 9 at 7pm.
