Market Rasen’s “Town Market Partnership”, which has taken over the role of MR BIG, is to seek public comment on parking in the Market Place.
The partnership agreed last week to raise three proposals on parking in the square to the public at the Annual Town Meeting on April 27.
One option will be to keep the things as they are, another will be to have a mix of parking space and extra public space, with the third option being no parking at all.
“People are concerned about how the Market Place is used and we have done work on that,” Coun Steve Bunney told the Rasen Mail.
“We are going to the Town Meeting in April with three suggestions on parking and the use of the Market Place. These ideas will be for initial discussions, with the aim of getting some agreement under the new town council (after May 7),” he said.
Coun Bunney confirmed no fixed decisions have been made and there would be further public consultation after the April 27 meeting.
“The hope is to get things into place in 5-6 months,” he added.
The move comes as the partnership worked on further measures to organise and promote the monthly specialist markets, which will replace the MR BIG markets. The first of the Saturday markets will have an Easter theme as April 4 is Easter Saturday.
