Market Rasen’s skateboard park next to Mill Road Playing Field is set to be repaired, says town mayor John Matthews.
Mayor Matthews met with the builders of the skate park last Thursday and says he hopes the remedial work will be complete “by the end of the month.”
The park opened some years ago, but there has been protests it has holes and is “dangerous.”
At this month’s council meeting on November 5, Mayor Matthews said the town council had received an invoice from the builders RSS, but he had told council staff not to pay the bill as the work was unsatisfactory.
“I indicated my displeasure over the standard of the work,” he said he had told RSS.
“I have asked the office to suspend that payment until a meeting to resolve this issue,” the meeting heard.
Several telephone calls were made to RSS and the sales manager and the project manager of the company were spoken to.
The company was ‘invited’ up to Market Rasen to make a site visit and inspect the work.
Now, after a meeting, the issue appears to have been resolved.
“I’m not paying the bill until they do,” he told the Rasen Mail after the Thursday meet.
