These days of December have been ominous times for West Lindsey.
We faced major challenges, one of them temporary – the aftermath of the blizzard which dumped a dangerous and slippery substance on us that still clogs pavements and side roads.
Of course we accept that county highways could not reach every road.
The sheer scale of trying to clear thousands of streets presented a strategic dilemma not unlike a military operation. There was a focus on the main routes which were superbly treated.
Throughout the region there was a marvellous “spirit of the Blitz” as people helped one another and looked after the most vulnerable.
