East Lindsey District Council leader Craig Leyland has backed planning supremo Richard Fry.
Coun Fry, ELDC’s portfolio holder for planning, hit the headlines last week when he admitted some decisions made by the authority’s planning committee ‘made him want to cry’.
Coun Fry made the comments in the public section of a meeting with members of Horncastle Town Council’s planning committee.
He was responding to questions by councillors and residents about why objections to housing developments in the town often appeared to be ignored or over-ruled by planning committee members.
Coun Leyland said Coun Fry retained his full confidence. He said: “He is doing a great job.
“He is a key figure in the on-going process of producing a Local Plan.”
“I think he accepts he needs to be careful about comments he makes at future meetings, especially when the media is present.”
