Sir Edward Leigh MP has once again won the Gainsborough seat in Westminster for the Conservatives and increased his majority by 4,890 to 15,449.

Sir Edward has now served as an MP since 1983 and has been Gainsborough’s MP since 1997.

The turnout was 66.19%. Sir Edward Leigh gained 25,949 votes compared with David Prescott (Lab) 10,500, John Saxon (UKIP) 7,727, Lesley Rollings (Lib Dem) 3,290, Geoff Barnes, (Green) 1,290 and Chris Darcel (Lincolnshire Independents) 505.

Sir Edward said it had been “a truly humbling experience.”
