Debit: it makes tax less taxing

HOUSEHOLDS are being encouraged by West Lindsey District Council to set up direct debits to pay their council tax before annual bills are sent out.

Almost 75 per cent of council tax payers in West Lindsey pay by direct debit, as it saves them a lot of time and is the cheapest method of payment.

You have the option of four payment dates; these include 1, 15, 21 and 28 of every month.

If you set up your direct debit now, it will mean it’s in place for receiving your new bill in March and you will not need to contact the council again.

If you leave it until after you receive your bill the instalments may change depending on the payment date you choose.

To start paying by direct debit, contact the council tax section on 01427 676566.

You will need to have your bank details to hand, and the bank account will have to be in your name if you are calling to set up a direct debit over the phone. Someone else cannot call on your behalf with your bank account details.

You can also print out the direct debit instructions on the council tax page on the website and complete the form or email .
