Cut fuel duty, says MP

BRIGG MP Andrew Percy is calling on the government to consider a fuel duty cut of 11p per gallon.

Mr Percy wants the government to give “serious consideration” to FairFuel UK’s campaign, which argues a reduction of 2.5 pence per litre would create 175,000 jobs within a year, without any fiscal loss to the government.

He said: “Our area is predominantly a rural and semi-rural area meaning that many of us have no option but to use our cars to get to work, get to school or to access essential services.”
