Housing Benefit claimants are being urged to make sure they are ready for changes when Universal Credit is launched later this year.
West Lindsey District Council (WLDC) is working with City of Lincoln and North Kesteven councils on the UCan campaign, which aims to raise awareness of the imminent changes to benefit payments, what help is available, and what you can do to help yourself.
From November 30 this year, single people who make a new claim for Jobseeker’s Allowance will be the first to be affected across the three districts, with other customer groups likely to follow soon after.
The changes mean money to cover rent costs currently paid directly to landlords will be paid directly into claimants’ accounts.
For budgeting support call WLDC on 01427 6766 76.
