Council concern over Grammar road plans

BRIGG Town Council is opposing a proposed development of 40 new homes off Grammar School Road.

Councillors are concerned about the lack of an adequate flood risk assessment, sewage problems, access issues and traffic congestion.

An assessment by planners stated there was no evidence of flooding in recent years but the council contested this by submitting photographs of the neighbouring town council allotment site under water in June 2007.

Councillors at the planning and environment committee pointed out they had persistently raised the issue of traffic congestion on Grammar School Road, which is the only access route to the proposed site.

They say Grammar School Road is already congested due to the town’s two secondary schools being there and it is the only route of entry and exit to the Springbank Estate.
