Economic benefits of major planning applications will now be included in West Lindsey District Council’s committee reports.
Details such as the number of jobs and the effect on business rates and council tax will help put larger development into context.
This information will help the planning committee, town and parish councils and residents understand the wider implications of a planning application.
The government will soon ask all councils to do this, but WLDC has agreed to implement this ahead of schedule, after a ‘planning peer challenge’.
As previously reported, the council commissioned a peer review to find out what was good about the service and ideas for how it could be improved.
