Bullying charge before standards

A HEARING panel will today decide whether or not a councillor is guilty of bullying and harassing top council officials.

The standards committee panel at West Lindsey District Council will hear the case of Middle Rasen’s Conservative councillor Geoff Wiseman, who is accused of bringing the council into disrepute, using bullying and intimidating behaviour and abusing his position to resolve personal matters.

Complaints have been lodged by the council’s director of neighbourhoods and health James Nicholson, housing, renewal and community safety service manager Grant Lockett and monitoring officer Rachel North.

The councillor, who won his seat in a 2008 by-election and was re-elected this last year with a majority of 200, denies the allegations.

The hearing will take place at Guildhall, Marshall’s Yard, Gainsborough at 5.45pm
