The Heritage Skills Centre at Lincoln Castle is inviting people to try their hand at one of the more unusual traditional crafts, pyrography – writing with fire.
A one-day course is being held this Saturday, February 27, in this ancient art, which involves using a heated implement to burn a design freehand into materials such as leather, paper, bone, velvet or even glass.
Wooden eggs will form a starting point for the 3D designs, with other objects also available to work on.
Over the course of the day, people will learn how to add colour to their designs and create pieces to take home.
Attendees should already have some experience of applying pyrography to flat surfaces.
The course runs from 10am to 4pm.
Places cost £70; use the code HSC1625 for a 25 percent discount, at www.lincolncastle.com/heritageskillscentre
