Pigeons still a pest and suffering

PIGEONS and the town’s railway bridges were again under discussion at Market Rasen Town Council last week.

Members heard that there was now a delay in the installation of further bird deterrents under the town’s railway bridges as Network Rail first need to work on the rails to ensure birds cannot get under the bridges from above.

Councillors also heard that the ‘humane’ deterrent gel that had previously been used on the Queen Street bridge was harmful to the birds if it got on the wings.

Coun Steve Renwick said that the birds were getting the gel on their wings, impeding their flight and causing them to fall into the road where they were struck by cars.
