Picnic time and bunting to celebrate the jubilee

RESIDENTS will be asked to bring their own food to Diamond Jubilee street picnics for ‘health and safety’ reasons.

Instead of holding street parties, Brigg will have street picnics to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee next June.

Town clerk Jeanette Woollard told the monthly meeting of the town council in the Angel Suite, it would be better if people bought their own food and drink so “health and safety” issues can be best circumnavigated, rather than fall foul of them.

It is hoped there will be bunting and other decorations in the town centre and a beacon lighting ceremony is set to take place.
