Market Rasen’s new councillor Rosemary Mortlock-French has revealed her priorities for the area - and why she loves our ‘bustling’ town.
Coun Mortlock-French, who describes herself as ‘61 years young’, moved to Market Rasen from Essex four-and-a-half years ago.
She has been mostly impressed with the town but says there is still room for improvement.
She said: “I’ve got to know quite a lot about the town through the people I’ve met.
“I think it (Market Rasen) is lovely, and there’s a lot of nice people.
“It’s a bustling town but not a busy town.
“There’s quite a lot going on in the background but it could perhaps benefit from a few more things.”
Coun Mortlock-French highlighted shops, markets and parking as areas that could be improved.
She said: “I’m hoping that whatever’s available I’ll turn my hand to and carry on the good work of the council.
“It would be nice to see the shops and the ordinary markets a little bit better.
“That’s something that could benefit the town.
“The parking situation needs looking at as well.
“It’s not that there aren’t places to park but it’s not obvious to someone who doesn’t know the area.”
The councillor – whose hobbies are dog walking, gardening and going out with friends – says she is looking forward to using her previous experience to benefit Market Rasen.
She said: “I’m looking forward to the challenge that it brings with being a councillor on a very well established council.
“I’ve always been involved with communities and served on committees.
“I like dealing with people.
“I can bring the experience I’ve got to Rasen to hopefully make a difference to people of the town.”
Rosemary was co-opted onto Market Rasen Town Council, along with Jake Jackson, at an extraordinary meeting on July 15.
