Shoppers at Market Rasen Co-op have boosted Market Rasen New Life Church funds, one of the store’s Community Champion groups, by £1,232.
“We are very grateful recipients,” said Paul Hiley, Pastor of New Life. “This generous amount will help support both our work with young people in the community and the work of Christians Against Poverty [CAP] locally.”
New Life Church has been running a local centre for CAP, a national award-winning debt-counselling service, for the last four years. During this time 50 clients have been supported locally by this confidential service, with seven becoming debt free.
And Debt Coach Estelle Forsythe was on hand along with Rhona Sheppard Youth Development Worker for New Life to receive the cheque from Co-op representative, Val Lancaster.
“This amount will certainly help boost our funds for all these outreach opportunities run largely by volunteers in our rural location,” said Rhona.
“We would like to thank the Co-op and especially Helen Martin, our local Community Liaison Representative, who helped facilitate our application.”
All shoppers at the Co-op contribute points over and above their own individual points towards the Community Champions scheme and local charities can be recipients for 3 months in they apply.
The current Community Champions are Market Rasen Choral Society and the Resdev Town Band.
It is also possible for shoppers to support their preferred charity by visiting the Lincolnshire Co-op’s website and choosing from their central list. www.lincolnshire.coop
