As part of its Christmas campaign, the Brigg Town Business Partnership is, for the very first time, organising a Tree of Light, or Remembrance Tree.

The tree will be stand in Chapel Court, just off the Old Courts car park, and it will be lit from Friday, December 4 to Wednesday January 6.

The initiative provides an opportunity for all members of the community to place a memory card on the tree in remembrance of departed loved ones.

The cards can be found at Design Orchard, Brigg Tourist Information, St John’s Church, Brigg and Brigg Methodist Church.

All monies raised will be donated to the Carers’ Support Centre in Brigg that touches the lives of many local individuals and families through difficult times and beyond.

An informal dedication service will take place this Saturday, December 5, at 11am, followed by a final service when the tree lights are switched off on January 6, at 6pm, and all are welcome.

A spokesperson for the Partnership said: “The Brigg Town Business Partnership would like to give special thanks to Father Owain Mitchell of St John’s Church, Brigg, Mr and Mrs Dyson for the loan of the tree lights and John Rowbottom for allowing Brigg Town Business Partnership to put the tree in Chapel Court.”
