Progress is being made on Market Rasen’s proposed Town Partnership and Markets Forum.
Sara Scott, chair of MR BIG, said her group met with the town council and Lincolnshire Chamber of Commerce last week.
This follows the recent public meeting in Festival Hall about how Market Rasen could better manage and support its markets and high street.
Chamber CEO Simon Beardsley “is massively committed to make this happen. Its a massive opportunity,” Sara continued.
The parties have been working together on how they could boost business for town traders. Proposals include employing a town centre manager, whose role would include promoting Market Rasen, as well as helping run the markets.
“We are doing more to flesh out what the town partnership will look like. More detailed proposals (will be put) before Market Rasen Town Council in a week or two,” she said.
A related Markets Forum has attracted three volunteers, but Sara said this group “did not need tens of people, just people with a vested interest to make sure the MarketPlace is a great place.”
Town council member Steve Bunney confirmed market traders have shown interest in joining the forum and vacancies still existed if any others wanted to join.
“We are working with MR BIG and the Chamber. We should have details in a week or two,” he said.
Market Rasen Town Council is expected to consider such ‘details’ at its February meeting.
