The funeral service for Violet Eileen Marie Harmston, aged 91 years of Market Rasen, was held at the town’s Methodist Church.

The Rev Andrew Lomax and the Rev Michael Cartwright officiated at the service and arrangements were by J Marshall.

Violet was born in Landford, Wiltshire, moving to Market Rasen in 1942 when she married Arthur William Harmston.

She started her career in service during World War 2 in Bedfordshire.

Later, after marrying - and becoming a widow at the age of 27, she started work in the school canteen in Market Rasen.

She retired at the age of 57.

Family mourners were: Audrey Harmston (daughter); Mr and Mrs Brian Harmston (son and daughter-in-law)); Zoe Harmston (granddaughter); Paul Harmston and Hayley Marris (grandson and partner); Mr and Mrs S Turnbull, Mr and Mrs S Thompson (granddaughters and husbands); Megan and Abbie Thompson (great-granddaughters); Mr and Mrs S Wattam (niece and husband); Mr and Mrs J Tyzack; Katie Willis; Mr and Mrs J Crawford (also rep Mrs N Crawford).
