OBITUARY – Marion Lucy Priestley

The funeral service for Marion Lucy Priestley, formerly Vickers, aged 88 years of Ridgeway Residential Care Home in Lincoln, was held at Lincoln Crematorium.

Sandra Wright officiated at the service and arrangements were by J Marshall of Market Rasen.

Marion was born in Potterhanworth, but spent her childhood at Owmby by Spital. A twin to Vida, she also had nine other siblings.

She worked as a bus conductress in Lincoln and then, in 1945, married Reg Vickers.

The couple moved to South Africa in 1951, returning to England in 1960, when Marion was happy to help Reg in his businesses. She especially enjoyed running the petrol station on Willingham Road, now Duckworths.

Sadly, in 1970, a car accident rendered Marion unable to care for herself, let alone her children. But from that date until her death she was still cared for and loved by her family.

Family and friends at the service were: Eileen Pether-Parker (daughter, also rep Mandy Vickers, daughter); Susan Vickers (daughter); Reg Vickers (son); Julia Vickers (daughter); Neal Evans (son-in-law); Penny Vickers (granddaughter); Amanda Vickers (grandddaughter); Daniel Rogers (grandson); Caroline Jenkinson (family friend); Jake Dyne (grandson); Ella Dyne (granddaughter); Sheila Evans (family friend); Richard Priestley (nephew); Dot Priestley (sister-in-law); Shirley and Tony James (friends); Liz Hunt (Ridgeway Home Manager); Carol Watts (Ridgeway Home Deputy Manager).
