The funeral service for Ethel Watson Johnson was held at Caistor Methodist Chapel. She died at Greenacres Care Home in Caistor, after much suffering.

The Rev Andrew Lomax officiated and arrangements were by J.W. Varlow and Son.

Ethel was born in Gainsborough on November 6, 1920, the daughter of Walter and Ada Dunsmore.

Aged 14 years she went out to work as a domestic helper and later moved to Kirkby Muxlow as housemaid. In the early 1940s she moved in as housekeeper for William Johnson, and in 1945 they were married.

She was an avid outdoor person and worked on the land. She moved to various locations in the Lincolnshire area, living at Spike Island and Rose Cottages in Hainton before later choosing to live in Caistor.

Survived by sons David, Stuart, Kenneth and Peter, and daughter Carol, Ethel was a wonderful mum, nana and great-nana, and friend to many. She will be sadly missed, but never forgotten.
