Market Rasen New Life Church celebrates 25 years in the town this month.

To mark the occasion are holding a celebration in the Festival Hall at 2.30pm on Saturday November 26.

The church began with a small group of 12 meeting in a home back in 1986 and public meetings started in the committee room of The Festival Hall.

Now they are part of a growing network of more than 100 new churches known as Ground Level, which runs an annual celebration on the Lincolnshire Showground attracting up to 10,000 visitors over August Bank Holiday.

“It has been an amazing journey” said Paul Hiley who has pastored the church since it began.

“We like to think we have played our part in inter-church life in the town and made a difference in the community.”

The church now runs after school activities for all ages from 7 to 18 with adult mid week groups and a lunchtime group at De Aston.

The celebration on November 26 will showcase highlights of quarter of a century from holiday clubs to puppet shows and from camping to famine relief.

Stuart Bell, who leads Ground level, will be the guest speaker and there will be something for all ages including music and dance. “

Mr Hiley added: “We look forward to serving the town for another 25 years.”

The church’s office number is 01673 849941.
