A new community group has been set up to benefit all residents of Barnetby and to bring the community closer together, no matter what their age and background.
The Barnetby Community Club was formed earlier this summer and one of its purposes will be to arrange trips and set up events and services to help residents.
Already there has been a trip The Deep in Hull during August.
Events that could take place over the winter months are a quiz night, auction evening, country and western night, evening trips, rock and roll night, bingo, and a luncheon club.
“It’s all about bringing the community closer together,” said club president and long time village resident Vic Bowness.
Tony Lawson is the group’s Chairman, Ellan Coulson the secretary and Celia Hambridge the treasurer.
Other founder members are Keith Beacock, Enid Knowles and Mick Wilson.
Subscriptions are a modest £2.50 a year for adults and £1 per year for young people aged 16 and under.
Some events organised by the club will be for members only but at other events members will pay a discounted entrance fee, while non members will be able to take part for an agreed cost.
Anyone who lives in the village and wants to become a member of the new club can email email@example.com.
Community club rules and constitution are available for all new and existing members.
Editor of ‘Roundabout’ the group’s monthly magazine is Enid Knowles, to whom articles in word document and jpeg images, can be submitted at firstname.lastname@example.org
