A monster of a market is promised this weekend in Market Rasen, as the latest of the Portas Pilot driven events sets out its stall in the town.
Organisers, MR BIG, the Market Rasen Business Improvement Group, are promising to have plenty of tricks up their sleeves to make it a treat for all the family.
More than 50 stalls will be shared between the market place and the Festival Hall, offering a range of Lincolnshire food and fabulous crafts.
Under the auction shed, monster librarians from Market Rasen Library and the mobile library service are teaming up to read spooky stories and help create some cracking fireworks art, along with a mini book sale.
And there are more spooky crafts in the Festival Hall.
“With a date between Halloween and Bonfire night, we think it’s the ideal time to treat your little monsters to some very British autumn traditions,” said volunteer markets director Jackie Smith,
“The market on Saturday, November 3, from 9am to 4pm is the perfect time for fancy dress - so everyone is invited to come along in spooky costumes and be in with the chance of winning one of the spot prizes.”
And there is also a competition for the best creepy and creative pumpkin carving.
Take your craved pumpkin along to the display at the market place auction shed before 10.30am; judging will take place from midday, with 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes being awarded.
Entry forms are available from high street shops, on the MR BIG blog and from the auction shed at the market on the day.
The Monster Market is also the first event in the town where 22 local businesses will be offering discounts and offers through the new Tik Tap smartphone app, a local loyalty programme designed and built by the same people behind the highly successful Orange Wednesdays cinema campaign.
Market Rasen is one of a select few towns in the UK to be awarded the opportunity to introduce this scheme and the app can be downloaded for free from iTunes or Google Android stores.
And your Market Rasen Mail will also be having a stall at the market.
Go along for your chance to give your view on your new look Market Rasen Mail.
What do you like about it? What don’t you like about it?
Whatever your views, we want to hear what our readers have to say.
And visitors to the Rasen Mail stall on Saturday will also have the opportunity to pick up a Rasen Mail goodie bag to take away with them.
