Here’s one charity story we can truly wax lyrically about.
Tesco staged a back waxing of produce team leader Andrew Lancaster to raise funds for the supermarket’s chosen charity Diabetes UK.
Workmates asked Andrew if he would have his legs waxed to help the store’s campaign, but the hirsute honcho declared “but I have more hair on my back.”
Thus, there he was on Friday stripped off while store staff were there with the wax, warmed up to smother all over that back hair.
There would be the odd gasp of pain, as an increasingly pink, but hairless back started to appear.
“I’m just enjoying the pain,” said wife Elaine Lancaster, who added her adopted daughter once shaved his back.
“I say he’s more like a monkey,” Elaine continued.
But all this apeing around was set to earn a worthy £600, adding to the £12,000 the Market Rasen store has collected with its charity efforts over the past year.
Friday’s fundraising also featured raffles, the wine or water game, plus promotions of halloween cupcakes.
It all showed what a hair-raising day Halloween was in Tesco.
