Fundraising to save Market Rasen Church of England Primary School’s swimming pool has made a positive start, but more is needed to reach the estimated £40,000 required.

Now, a website has been launched to allow people to make donations and also to get more information, as well the history of the pool.

“Money has already been raised with donations from local businesses and charities, plus a National Lottery Awards for All grant,” said headteacher Andrew Smith.

“Now, anyone who would like to make a donation can visit the website.”

And pupils of the school have been doing their bit too - writing letters, singing at special events and dancing to raise money.

The swimming pool has served the school and local community for the last 25 years.

“The pool is not only used by the school, but also by other local primary schools, pre-schools and nurseries,” added Mr Smith.

“If we were able to replace the roof of the pool we would be able to be use it the whole year round and possibly give community groups access the pool.

“This can only be good for the health and fitness of the whole town.”
