FORTY members of the Market Rasen and District Probus Club met for lunch at its usual venue of the Golf Club.
The speaker was fellow member Andrew Laing, who spoke on the unlikely subject of gas meters. It turned out to be a description of his work to make the metering system of the industry more efficient following privatisation.
The talk, which was enjoyed by all, somehow managed to include Margaret Thatcher and the Poll Tax, as well as Hosni Mubarak, the recently-deposed President of Egypt.
Any retired gentleman interested in becoming a member of the club should phone the secretary Ben Smith on 01673 842218.
