TWO Market Rasen men will be jumping from 15,000 feet to remember a much-liked and respected town florist.
Adrian Richards and Colin Kennedy will be taking the plunge for their first ever sky dive from Hibaldstow airfield next month in memory of Linda Richards.
“Lots of people in the town knew my Auntie Linda, both for her floristry and her lovely personality,” said Adrian.
“I decided to do this sponsored sky dive in memory of Linda, especially as it will help other cancer sufferers.”
Linda had fought many battles with cancer over the years, but unfortunately lost her final battle in 2009.
Son-in-law Colin remembers the lady who could “cheer anyone up just by her smile.”
“Linda was a fantastic person who never let anything get her down,” he said.
“She had an amazing personality and made everyone feel at ease.”
The daredevil pair will join five other people at the event on September 2 to raise money for a cancer charity - Nigel Cann, Stuart Flower, Kelly Gratrick, Ciaran Robinson and his wife Jo, whose parents live at Usselby.
“It’s been great to meet up with Jo again; we are old school friends and hadn’t seen each other for the best part of 20 years,” added Adrian.
Like Linda, who owned her own business in the town - Occasional Flowers - Adrian is keen to promote Market Rasen and is an active supporter of MR BIG; he is also well known in the Market Rasen Memories circles.
“Colin and I have both set quite modest targets, but we hope everyone will get behind us to remember this very special lady,” said Adrian.
Money raised by the group will go to Firefly Cancer Awareness and Support. Find out more on the charity’s Facebook page www.facebook.com/FireflyCIC
