A HUSBAND and wife team is preparing to take on the challenge of both running two marathons just a week apart.
Keith and Linda Tyler, from Caistor, have secured entries in the Paris Marathon on April 11, and the following Sunday will run another 26-mile course when they take part in the world famous London Marathon on April 17.
Neither are strangers to long-distance running, Linda having completed last year’s race through the streets of our capital and Keith the Edinburgh Marathon last May.
But the couple say two marathons in the space of a week will be a new challenge, which they are undertaking to raise money for cancer charity Children With Leukaemia.
Keith said: “It’s a daunting prospect for us to run these two marathons so close together, but I’m sure if we are successful with our training build-up we should be able to complete both events.
“It will be a new experience for Linda as she has never faced two full marathons just a week apart before.
“However, I did experience running four full marathons over a three-week period as my Millennium Challenge way back in year 2000.
“I was much younger then, and now at the age of 64 it will be just as tough a challenge for me this time around.”
Keith and Linda are both members of the Cleethorpes Athletic Club, and are running several races during their training preparations.
Keith ran in the St Valentine 30K race (18.64 miles) on Sunday, February 13, and both are running in the Sleaford Half Marathon this weekend.
