Bright sunshine, music and a countryside ramble were enjoyed by the 120 walkers who took part in the Market Rasen Memory Walk.

The event was organised by the families of Michelle Boryszczuk and Mary Scott to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society.

Both families were out in force for the walk on Sunday and expressed their gratitude for the support the event had received.

“We would like to thank everyone for turning out and helping to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society,” said Steve Boryszczuk, Michelle’s husband.

Before the walk started, balloons were released in memory of Michelle, who is believed to have been the country’s youngest Alzheimer’s sufferer, and local folk band Da Capo were on hand throughout the event providing music to add to the atmosphere.

And such was the success of the day, plans are already being made for next year’s event, which Steve says will be even bigger and better.

The Memory Walk is an annual fundraiser for the Society, but this is the first time one has taken place in Market Rasen.

“We have been really pleased with the response and hope to see everyone again next year,” added Veronica Rouse, Michelle’s mum.
