New music group
to help memory

A new singing group for people living with dementia is being launched in Middle Rasen.

Singing for the Brain is a programme developed by Alzheimer’s Society for people with memory problems.

“Even when many memories are hard to retrieve, music can sometimes still be recalled - if only for a short while,” said Paula Colburn, Locality Manager for Alzheimer’s Society in Lincolnshire.

The varied programme of vocal, rhythmic and gentle physical exercise and dance, along with songs from different eras and styles, can help with articulation, concentration, focus and motivation.

The group will take place on the first and third Monday of each month, from 10am to 12noon at the Church Hall in Church Street, starting on June 3.
