The science of sleep was the subject at Market Rasen’s Festival Hall at an information day organised by the Lincolnshire North Federation of WIs wider issues committee.
The morning speaker was Dr Peter Oliver from Oxford University, who explained the patterns of sleep.
The entertaining talk looked at aspects of sleep most people would not have thought of.
Looking at sleep patterns and sleep deprivation, he enthralled his audience.
The afternoon speaker was Dr Nicola Crewe, a senior lecturer at Lincoln University, teaching and researching in microscopy, microbiology and molecular biology.
And both speakers devoted plenty of time to answer the wide-range of questions from their audience.
The day was just one of many events organised by the WI committee, which are open to members and non-members alike.
Forthcoming events include a literary day looking at the life and work of DH Lawrence and a visit to Vine House Farm, famous for its sunflowers, at Market Deeping. And members will be back at the Festival Hall in September to celebrate the centenary of the national organisation of WIs
