MARKET Rasen Surgery will be running dedicated flu vaccination clinics on three Saturdays and eligible patients should contact the surgery from Tuesday, September 13 to make an appointment.
Clinic dates are October 1, October 15 and November 12, from 9.30am to 4pm, and will be by appointment only.
The vaccination is provided free of charge to all patients registered with the practice, who will be 65 or over by 31 March 2012, women who are pregnant or become pregnant during the ‘flu season and those who are a main carer of an elderly or disabled person.
Patients aged six months and over with certain long-term conditions – for example chronic heart disease, heart attack, respiratory complaints (asthma and COPD), stroke, diabetes, lowered immunity due to disease or treatment, multiple sclerosis, neurological disease, liver or renal disease, are also offered the vaccination.
The ‘flu vaccination may help protect against ‘flu over the winter months and help prevent more serious illnesses or worsening of a chronic illness as a result of ‘flu.
People aged under 65 and in general good health do not need a ‘flu vaccination and are not eligible to be vaccinated in the campaign.
Contact the surgery, in Mill Road, Market Rasen, on 01673 843556 for advice if you are unsure of your eligibility.
