Have a ball for charity this Valentine’s Day

A Valentines Day charity ball to be held at Forest Pines Hotel near Brigg will feature some of Horse Racings high-profile celebrities and personalities.

The ball has been organised to raise money for Racing Welfare, a charity that provides help for those in need who work or have worked in the British racing and thoroughbred breeding industry.

The February 14 ball has been organised by Evan Williams, a Nettleton top farrier who has been brought up around racing. He plans on running the London Marathon for the charity this year and is currently training alongside his day job as a farrier.

He said “Since launching The Racing Hearts Ball, tickets have been flying off the shelves, however with the news that Lesley Graham and Bob Champion joining the line-up, we are expecting a sell out.”

Bob Champion MBE is a former jockey who has seen huge success in his career. He is a Grand National winning jockey when aboard Aldiniti in 1981, He won the prestigious race just two years after being diagnosed with cancer. Since his retirement he has raised millions for cancer research through his charity, The Bob Champion Trust.

Lelsey Graham is the Chief Executive of Racing Welfare, however Lesley is best known from Channel 4 Racing and became the first female presenter of the sport in 1993. Both celebrities will be speaking at the ball and offering autographs and pictures with racing fans.
