Rehearsals start for the new season with Market Rasen Choral Society and they are looking to welcome new singers, especially tenors and basses.

Their last performance –Zimbe! – was a huge success, but as they pride themselves in singing a wide range of music, this year the society will be performing works by Handel and Puccini as well as pieces from the 20th century and John Rutter’s Requiem.

Their next concert is on St Cecilia’s day, November 22, and it will honour the patron saint of music with performances of works by Handel and two British composers of the last century – Gerald Finzi and Michael Hurd.

Chloë Saywell from Claxby will be the soprano soloist.

On December 14 they will again lead the singing at the annual Rotary Carol Concert and their main concert on May 21 will consist of Rutter’s Requiem and Puccini’s Messa di Gloria.

If all that whets your appetite, join them at their first rehearsal in Market Rasen Primary School next Tuesday, September 8, at 7.30pm – no audition required – or call secretary Angela Davis on 01673 842403,
