A De Aston student is on the road to stardom after making it into a national theatre group.
Rosy Smith (Year 8) has been chosen for the 2015 Company of the National Youth Music Theatre (NYMT).
There were 11 national auditions in January and February, followed by two days of recall auditions in London for those who were selected from the national auditions.
And the youngster faced a rigorous process, which tested skills in singing, acting and dance.
As a member of the Company, Rosy will be in the cast of Pendragon - the story of King Arthur, the Knights of the Round Table, Morgan Le Fey and Guinevere - this summer, which is going to be directed by Jeremy James Taylor OBE.
She will also perform in the Christmas Concert at St John’s Church and participate in other national events.
Alumni of the National Youth Music Theatre include Jude Law, 2015 Best Actor Oscar winner Eddie Redmayne, Matt Lucas, Sheridan Smith and Jessie J, amongst numerous other stars.
Since 1976 NYMT has successfully trained pre-professional talented young people in the performance arts - acting, singing and dancing - enabling them to develop their creative potential.
The current West End (and overseas) musicals have NYMT alumni in their companies as performers, choreographers, musical technicians, stage crew, designers, and even musicians.
Andrew Lloyd Webber dubbed NYMT “the finest youth music theatre in the world” and supports it with the Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation by awarding scholarships and grants to talented young people in need of financial assistance.
