From Portuguese zoos to Lincolnshire’s farmyard

She presented a birthday posy to Stella Gray, and Yvonne Twitchett reported on the happy evening two members had spent as guests of East Barkwith WI at their annual harvest meeting.

They heard a young vet from Portugal talk about working in her home country where she treated animals at the zoo, and compared it with her life in Market Rasen where her patients are farm and domestic animals.

Trish Miles and Ruby Willoughby reported on the Louth Group of WI’s Committee meeting they attended as delegates and gave information on the classes included in the craft section of the schedule for the bi-annual produce show to be held at Ludford next summer.

Social and supper time followed with the opportunity to taste the puddings they had each taken along before voting for their favourite for the montly competition.

The winners were 1 Ann Ringrose and 2 Marion Walker.

Members had been invited to display an arrangement of grasses for the flower of the month competition. This was won by 1 Kate Smith and 2 Ruby Willoughby.

There was an opportunity to chat and discuss future fundraising with suggestions also invited for speakers and demonstrators in preparation for planning next year’s monthly programme.
