Former Brigg Town Mayor Enid Brocklesby has died at her home in Pingley Lane after a four-year battle with cancer. She was 74.

Mrs Brocklesby was born in Keighley in the West Riding of Yorkshire; she moved to Brigg in 1952 when her family took over a local bakery.

In Brigg, she met her husband Bill and they were married in 1963.

Mrs Brocklesby served as Town Mayor of Brigg from 1991 to 1992 and also as the President of the Brigg Chamber of Trade.

She had also been a local magistrate and Chairman of the Youth Court at Scunthorpe.

She was also a member of Probus, President of Ladies Circle and President of Tangent,

Mrs Brocklesby is survived by her husband Bill, daughter Claire, son Chris and seven grandchildren.

Her funeral took place last Friday at St John’s Church.
